01. Acceptance and scope

By using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the website. Some services may have additional written terms if booked or purchased separately.

02. Website use

You may browse, play chess locally, analyze positions, and use publicly provided chess resources for lawful personal use. You agree not to damage, overload, attempt unauthorized access to, or interfere with the website, its visitors, its hosting infrastructure or its underlying software.

We may change, suspend or remove site features when reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal compliance, or product development.

03. Chess features and engines

The board, puzzles, analysis and rating controls are educational and recreational tools. Engine strength labels, rating targets and evaluations are approximations. Actual performance depends on device speed, engine configuration, position and thinking time. The service does not guarantee particular move quality, playing strength, uninterrupted availability or tournament suitability.

Engines are provided in different build sizes; larger versions require optional downloads, have hardware and browser compatibility requirements and may be unavailable. Local timers are provided for practice and are not certified for regulated tournament use. Opening names and evaluations are study references, and engine settings do not guarantee any precise human Elo level. Positions and game analysis are currently processed locally in the visitor's browser; the site does not provide synchronized online accounts or multiplayer matchmaking in this version.

04. Enquiries and coaching

Contact forms and booking links indicate an interest in coaching or related services and do not, by themselves, create a paid contract. Scheduling, rates, refunds, cancellations and participation conditions must be separately confirmed in writing before payment is collected. Guardians should arrange enquiries and services for minors.

05. Ownership and open-source notices

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the site's original design, wording, photographs, branding and logo are owned or licensed by the website operator. You may not imply endorsement, impersonate the club, or commercially reuse protected site assets without permission.

Lichess opening names are provided under the CC0 public-domain dedication and are attributed in the software documentation. The chess.js library used during the opening database build is BSD-2-Clause licensed. Third-party chess engines and other open-source components retain their own licences. Stockfish is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0. Read the Stockfish attribution and source notice. Nothing in these terms limits rights granted by those licences.

06. External websites

Links to booking services, third-party resources, search engines or other websites are provided for convenience. Their own terms and privacy practices apply when you visit them.

07. Availability and limitations

The site is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent allowed by applicable law, we make no promise that all functions will be error-free or that outputs will be suitable for any particular purpose. Nothing here excludes warranties, consumer protections or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising solely from ordinary website use. This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

08. Applicable law and disputes

These terms are intended to be interpreted under the laws of Ontario and applicable federal laws of Canada, subject to mandatory rights and protections that apply where you live. Contact the operator first if you encounter an issue so it can be addressed directly.

09. Updates to terms

We may update these terms as the website evolves. The effective date will change when updated terms are published. Continued use after notice of changes may indicate acceptance where permitted by law.
